Hi would someone please give me advice on what to take into hospital for tram flap. Is it magic knickers that go above your tummy button or bellow and a sports bra. I am usually a calm person but I seem to have lost all common sense this time. I feel cross because the BCN said if I had been taken off tamoxafin last year ,I have been on it for 4 years and had a drug for women through menopause there is a good chance it would not have returned. Support please.

Hi jellylegs
I have no personal experience of tram flap… But want to comment on what your BCN said… She cant know that… Your surgeon and oncologist dont know the answer to that as you BCN def wont… Yes having a different drug called an aromatase inhibitor (AI) after tamoxifen if your post menopausal can reduce your risk of recurrence or delay its onset… But it doesnt stop it completely and they cannot predict who will and who wont get recurrence unfortunately… And not everybody would be considered for AIs either.
Why not ask to discuss it with your surgeon, oncologist or pathologist as they will be able to advise you better but generally they still wont know the answer.
Big hugs xxxxx
Hi Jellylegs i had bilateral mx and tram flap recon at the same time last Feb, you will need knickers that go above belly button and a size bigger than normal due to all the swelling. I found a front zipped sports bra was very handy from m&s. My surgery went really well and I hope yours does too. good luck x
