Hi there I am new here. I have seen my GP today as I have been worried about a lump I found in my right breast. I suffer from quite lumpy breasts but they usually subside within a couple of weeks, but this lump seems tohave stayed and just doen’t feel normal for me. GP was very good and examined me but she has worried me more as she asked me if all the little lumps she could feel (which I previously hadn’t taken much notice of) were normal for me as she was more concerned about those. I have also had a mild nagging ache to the side of my breast. She said I would have an appointment within 2 weeks. She has also worried me by saying she thought I would have been on a screening programme already as there is a history of BC in the family. It is a new GP practice by the way.
These little lumps, I think must be the milk producing glands. Has anyone else been referred because of this and what was your outcome?
Im 46 so nothing to do with pregnancy!
I had several of fluid-filled cysts some years ago. I had found one lump, which was bigger than the others, but when they did an ultrasound scan, there were others as well. The doctor drained the biggest ones with a needle. I could see them disappearing on the scan monitor.
Mind you, in my case this time, it wasn’t a cyst, and was the other breast. When you go to the hospital, they will probably do a mammogram and ultrasound scan and so you will get a good idea on the day.
Thnks for your replies. As you all know it is such a horrible situation to be in: I don’t know whether to think ‘worst case sceario’ or go into denial! I think if I didn’t have the aching I would try to ignore it! Just want the phone to ring (and be at home) so I know how long I have to wait!
Hi
Just wanted to update you all and also if someone later on finds this post and is in the same position with similar symptoms it may help them.
I went to breast clinic today and was first examined by the consultant, then had a mammogram. I then had to have an ultrasound, originally it was just going to be underneath my left breast (my lump is in my right)
Commented on this and they looked at the right breast and lump, but said it was all ok. They seemed not to see or feel the lump, when they did the ultrasound I was watching the screen and all I could see was a very slighty thicker mass of white where the lump is.
