Hi tracey. So sorry for you. I was diagnosed yesterday and don’t know whether I’m having mastectomy or lumpectomy yet. I was ok most of yesterday, but am feeling that I might be on the edge of crying today. I think we have to be prepared for good hours/days and not-so-good hours/days. Thank goodness for friends, partners and this wonderful site. This site really is proof that it is possible to get through it and still have hope and happiness. All the best to you, Tracey.
Dear Emma43 and LeeUK
I would just like to say welcome to the forums and to let you know that earlier in this thread there was a moderator post with information regarding a new resource pack which you may, in time, find helpful to order. Please also don’t forget about our freephone confidential helpline which is run by specialist nurses and trained helpliners with experience of breast cancer. The helpline is open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Sat 9am-2pm on 0808 800 6000.
Kind regards

NOT TO BAD TODAY ACTUALLY WENT SHOPPING BUT WAS VERY CONSIOUS ABOUT THE FACT THAT I ONLY HAVE ONE BREAST FELT EVERYONE WAS STARING AND HAD A COUPLE OF PANIC ATTACKS BUT ITS EARLY DAYS AND HOPEFULLY I WILL GET USED TO THE IDEA IM DETRMINED TO LEAD A NORMAL LIFE FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY MAY HAVE OVER DONE IT THOUGH ONLY CAME OUT OF HOSPITAL WEDNESDAY SO I DO FEEL QUITE SHATTERED. IM GLAD I DECIDED TO USE THIS SITE AS IT HELPS TO TALK WITH PEOPLE IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS AND ITS GREAT TO HEAR FROM ALL THOSE WHO ARE ON THERE WAY TO RECOVERY AS IT GIVES OTHERS HOPE
Hi Tracey
You are doing so well hun, it is incredibly hard but it has only been a couple of days, give yourself some time to get your head around everything. I have the op to come, just done chemo #2 out of 6 (or 9) and so I have not been thinking about the surgery yet…the girls on here will help you so much with post-surgery advice and stuff.
Just take care, get lots of rest and let everyone else do the running around.
Welcome Lee - sorry you are here.Big hugs to both of you.

Hi Girls,
I think what you feel is how everyone who is diagnosed with this disease feels at some time. We all have varied roads of treatment and hopefully recovery. Then living with hormone replacements etc.
As for feeling as though your one breast is noticeable, have you not been given a breast nurse who may have given you a comfy and arranged for a prosthesis etc.
Remember everyone here to support you how they can.

WHILE IN HOSPITAL I WAS TOLD BY MY BREAST CARE NURSE I WOULD BE GIVEN A COMFY WHEN I ASKED THE NURSE ON THE WARD SHE JUST SAID WE HAVE ONLY THREE SIZES AND JUST LEFT ON MY BED. MADE ME FEEL LIKE A NO ONE DIDNT EXPLAIN WHEN I COULD USE IT OR HOW IM STILL NOT SURE WHEN I CAN WEAR A BRA I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TOMORROW AT THE HOSPITAL SO IM GOING TO MAKE A COMPLAINT TO MY BREAST CARE NURSE TO HOW I HAVE BEEN TREATED AND HOPEFULY SHE WIL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO ME . I FELT ALL THE STAFF IN HOSPITAL WERE ABRUPT AND NOT HELPFUL AT ALL TIME EVEN THE SURGERGEON TOOK OF MY DRESSING AFTER SURGERY AND SAID THATS OK DIDNT PREPARE ME FOR THE FACT UNDERNEATH THERE WAS NO LONGER A BREAST . WORST EXPERIENCE EVER MY HUSBAND WAS FUMING. ANY WAY GET THE RESULTS TOMORROW AND HOPEFULLY ALL MY ANSWERS I NEED .THANKS FOR YOUR REPLIES MUCH APPRECIATED

That sounds like a complete disgrace. You poor thing. Hope things were better on your next visit. I was lucky - the ward was a specialist one for breast care with lovely staff although I also find surgeons a bit snooty and abrupt. Good luck,
Ruith
WELL IM SEEING MY BREAST CARE NURSE TOMORROW SO I SHALL BE PUTTING IN COMPLAINT IN CASE IT HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ELSE
