hi, i know there are a few ladies on here on this chemo , i have liver mets but are you having herceptin also, i am on no 7 and my oncologist is stopping me when i have 8 , i will have a scan to see whats going on and then continue with herceptin, i am unsure what to do as many women seem to be staying on this chemo without a break what do think ?
thanks galen x
Hi Galen – I’m on Xeloda, but not Herceptin (my BC isn’t HER2+) – I believe that you should have regular MUGA scans to see how the Herceptin is impacting on your heart. I’m sure the others who are having Herceptin will be able to tell you lots more about it. Just wanted to wish you good luck with this treatment!

hi marilyn,
thank you for your reply ,thankfully my heart scan is ok im coping ok with herceptin i was on it previously for 1 yesr , its the chemo im a bit worried about stopping as i see lots of ladies are staying on it , my onc seems to think herceptin should work on its own.
hi,im on capcitabine and herceptin.im on 2nd dose of the chemo and had 78 herceptins.im hoping to stop the capcitabine after dose 6.in 2008 i only had 3 lots and it did its job of reducing the lump so i was taken off it,so after a scan next month im hoping its worked again. janet.xx
Hi, I’m on capectitabine & herceptin. I start my 5th cycle tomorrow. I have mets in lungs, liver and bones.
I’ve been told that I’m on both drugs for as long as they appear to be working (I only had my first CT scan today so I don’t know how much difference the treatment has made). Having friends who have been on Herceptin I was aware that they had both had heart scans before their treatment started. When I inquired as to why I hadn’t had one I was told that as I was being treated for secondaries, I would be given cardiac drugs if the Herceptin seemed to be affecting my heart - having the Herceptin matters more.
