can anyone whos on this chemo or been on it tell me if thay had sore throat and neck glands am a week into 1 st round and been ok but am aware it builds up no temp just aware of tenderness on right neck gland and soreish to swallow,few achy pains too , temp is fine …thankyou x
yes -I had capcitabine and had sore neck glands after about a week; they went away with the start of the next cycle so think it was a reaction to the drugs. I never mentioned it to doctors since, like you I did not have a temperature and thought it was just a sensitivity to the drugss

Hi fairyqueen, i had my first fec 1st July. The last week i’ve had sore throat and glands are up as well as mouth ulcers. Did go to docs and she did say that normally she wouldn’t treat it but under the circumstances she gave me penicillin. Feel really crap now as have got white spots on tongue so not sure if anti biotics have given me thrush.
I think you should definately ring hospital and find out whether you might need anti biotics just incase your symtoms get worse.

Yes - agree with Penny - if pain gets worse or any other symptoms like thrush type white mouth then do go to the dotor/chemo unit for advice.

I’ve nearly finished my first 2 weeks on capecitabine then will have a weeks break. The worse side effect for me has been tiredness especially now at the end of 2 weeks. Did feel a little sick at the beginning but that seems to have passed.
How long have you got to take it for, I have been told 6 cycles then have a review, have a feeling it might be longer depends how well it works I suppose.
Hope your symptons go away soon.

hi jan, i will do 2 cycles then see if improvement and if so onc says it can be used indefinately or until not effective, i am triple neg so am monitered closely.i too feel tired on it good luck take care xxx
