Hi. Im starting Carboplatin tomorrow nd would love to hear how others found it?? Any tips?? Ive just finished 7 months of weekly Taxol / Avastin for multiple lung mets so am starting feeling a bit tired, but have heard good reports about Carboplatin. I hear tiredness and nausea are the worst SE but how bad were they? Ive not been driving for 3/7 days on Taxol / Avastin nd wonder if i will be driving (…or being a Taxi service for kids!!).

I had Carboplatin with Gemcitabine and it worked very well for me - ‘significant reduction’. It was doable although ,y bloods were knocked sideways a couple of times and I had the odd extra week between doses BUT remember I was on two drugs not just Carboplatin on its own. My Onc always semms to give me two drugs at once but then I have mets in lungs, liver and bones.
My hair did thin a little but not so much that anyone other than me and my hairdresser noticed. Again, I am not sure which of the drugs caused this. I can remember feeling tired so make sure you rest up when you need to.
Hi Sue, thx for taking time to reply.‘Doable’ sounds ok!! My onc is keeping the Gemcitabine for another day. Having just had 7 months of weekly chemo she thinks two at once would not be so good for me! I hope it has the same effect on me as it did with you. Maybe my hair will grow again!! sadie i had carboplatain but also with taxol i never had any sickness the first 3 days were great other than leg pain mouth ulcers thrush i was fine but obviously i never knew what one caused me the probs i was put on amend anti sickness which is the best also extra steriods for se after couple of cycles i was fine just the nor lows with chemo i had v gd responce on my treatment for first 2 cycles then stable ive a scan tues to see how its doing gd luck laura
