Cellulitis - your experiences please

I have just spent a week in hospital after developing Sepsis following Cellulitis to the breast, which developed 3 weeks post lymph node clearance.  I noticed my breast was red around the wound site at lunchtime and it rapidly spread and resulted in Sepsis by 5pm.  I am not posting this to frighten anyone, but if I had listened to the breast care nurse who I telephoned explaining how unwell I felt I probably would not be here posting this.  Fortunately, I am a nurse and realised the urgency of my symptoms.  I collapsed in my GP’s surgery and was rushed to hospital.  Please act on instinct.  If you know something is not right, then get to your GP as soon as possible. Some ‘specialist’ nurses leave a lot to be desired.

Oh how awful for you glad you acted on your own instincts and knowledge, hope your feeling better x

Hi all, I had operation in June lumpectomy, then rads in august during which time I felt awful. Weeks later I was diagnosed with oedema then two weeks later got big red rash on affected breast and nurse diagnosed cellulitis and put me on flucox 2500 mg per day. I had this on and off for 3 months then finally got blood test which showed no infection nor inflammation! I have massively sensitive skin and always have had but this is frustrating ! Had blood test today as after month free rash came back today! Will keep all posted…but so want to get on top of this so can start oedema therapy.

Best all
