After my weepy day and session with lymphodeama nurse, I am considering asking to change to a tablet other than Arimidex. The aches and pains are making me feel so down. Has anyone done this? Did you have any improvement?

as no one has replied I can only imagine you all think I’m nuts! I do too! Just grasping at straws. The last thing I need right now is weight gain with Tam!

Hi Irene
if it is any help I am on Tamoxifen (since April 07) and have not gained any weight, only noticeable side effect is hot flushes, which are quite bad and do wake me up sometimes - have to lay on the bathroom floor to cool down !!! Have not been on Arimidex but know ladies who are and it can contribute to osteoporosis so not sure which is the lesser of 2 evils!! see if your onc thinks it is worth a try

I want to go the other way! The tamoxifen hot flushes are really getting me down and Arimidex gives better results (in reducing recurrence)
Hi, I changed from arimidex to tamoxofen about 6 months ago, after taking arimidex for about a year. Your right, the aches and pains in the body are far worse when your on arimidex, at least they were for me. I found that the only downside to tamoxofen was that I put about half stone in weight on, but I wasnt too bothered as I lost a stone when I was on chemo, and as for the flushes, they’re not that bad, I would rather have them than all the aches and pains I used to have.
My onc changed me to tamoxofen as she was taking all her paitents of arimidex, seemingly there were some sort of results which said women were doing better on tamoxofen. I have been very ignorant about my treatment the whole way through, I basically just do as I’m told and dont really question anything as I have a great relationship with my onc and I trust her completely, maybe I should’ve asked more questions but thats just me.
Hope this helps.
Jackie.
Hi All
I was on Femera (Letrazole) to begin with but my arthritis was so much worse that I was put on Tamoxifen. I have gained half a stone and now have hot flushes but at least I’m not in such awful pain. The flushes have lessoned as time’s gone on, too. I no longer get the really bad ones in the night. Hope this helps.

Hi Folks
Now been on Tamoxifen for a week and aches and pains def less. BUT… at same time was put back onto diclofenic with a protector for stomach as had terrible heartburn. This is mainly for my inflamed knee (not BC connected), but there was hope it would help with arimidex symptons too initially.
So it’s hard to say which if any has helped so watch this space!. I am dreading another 1/2 stone weight gain, but as it was with arimidex, I could hardly move so was piling on weight anyway!
Think I may be having more flushes, but hard to tell as weather been warm too!
