Change of surgery

i was due to have a therapeutic mammoplasty today, but after an MRI scan all has changed 

 

they have eave concluded that the second lump is the same as the one with cancer despite the biopsies being clear and a third lump has been detected that the mammograms and ultrasound didn’t show. ?

 

So I am now scheduled to have a mastectomy next Thursday. I am having an expander implant reconstruction as my consultant is fairly certain I will still have to have radiotherapy. I can then decide later on what permanent implant I have.

 

i feel numb with it all and just wonder what more can change.  On the upside, I can now go to the a-ha concert I have tickets for on Tuesday!

Hi Silvercloud. So sorry they have found more nasty surprises. If there is a plus side (and I know in the grand scheme of things a plus in our circumstances is totally different to our precancer ideas) at least they didn’t go ahead and then on results day you find you need more surgery. My therapeutic mammoplasty did go ahead but I’m having terrible trouble with the wound. I spoke to my practice nurse and BCN today saying that I’m on the brink or asking them to do a mastectomy now as I’m in agony and my new boob will be very scarred anyway, not that it was ever about looks.
