CHECK YOUR INSURANCE POLICIES

PLEASE EVERY ONE CHECK ALL YOUR INSURANCE POLCIES. I DID AFTER 17 MONTHS POST DISGNOSIS TO FIND I HAD CRITICAL ILLNESS COVER. THERE WAS A TIME FRAME OF THREE MONTHS BUT THE COMPANY HAVE AGREED TO PAY OUT.

DO IT TODAY.

Hi Geraldine 45,

That’s great - I’m glad you were successful!

Hi Geraldine

Good news I contacted mine on dx and was told it was payable on death only but they would confirm this is writing - still not heard anything so may just give them another ring though I dont hold out much hope but worth a try.

I found out that I’d taken out an extra premium for my private pension (not until 18 months post my secondary diagnosis) - we got in touch with the insurance company and although it took a while negotiating with them I’m happy to say that they now pay my premiums!

I was dx a week after my house sale was completed and policy cancelled - How’s that for timing!

Hi Geraldine

I was one of the “lucky” ones - I also had critical illness cover and they have paid out no problem, nice little nest egg sitting in the bank and I have treated myself to you a new car. You are correct you must check your policies, I also read on another thread that somebody had car insurance with Norwich Union and they have a clause where they pay your premium if you become critically ill !!!

Dig out your paperwork ladies

Checked mine and told sorry but only pay out if you have a terminal illness and given 12 monts or less to live but worth a try.

i have got nearly a years car insurance back from Norwich Union as had a free insurance given cos I paid by direct debit, this was to cover my premium if I was unable to work. Doesnt affect car insurance costs etc at all & was all done v easily & helpfully
Some more paperwork to check!!

Goes to show that taking the cheapest possible option at renewal or taking out a new policy isn’t always the best bet. I sure wish I’d spent more now :frowning:
