Checking back in: 6 years and more post diagnosis

Some people like to check back in and let people know how they are doing. If you are coming up to the anniversary of your original diagnosis, post your update here.

I was diagnosed on Christmas Eve 2003. I attended a local support group and became friends with 4 of the ladies there. I am happy to say that we all met last night for a meal (we meet up quite often). Despite a couple of hiccups, we are all enjoying life despite the initial fears which I know we all go through (and still do). Several of us are still working, the others are retired. Three of us were diagnosed following routine Breast Screening, in my case I had no lump and it had already gone to one of the lymph nodes, so I am extremely glad that I went for screening otherwise the picture might be very different.

Best wishes to everyone who is newly diagnosed and just starting treatment.

I was diagnosed on Dec 5 2003 aged 48 after finding a lump when I was 47, six months earlier.

I had a segmental mastectomy (about one quarter cut off) and I am still here

I was diagnosed 6 years ago today and am pleased to say all is well and life is good. Had just started a part-time MBA when diagnosed and set myself a goal to back and do it. After, surgeryx3, radio, chemo and tamoxifen, am pleased to say, finished top of class and graduated in July and was also promoted in work! Tamoxifen due to finish soon and am hoping at 38 not too late to try for a baby -we shall see! If it doesn’t work out, I will content myself with being a auntie to 4 wonderful little boys.
