Chemo and mrsa

Hi, I am due to start chemo anytime now but for the last 4 weeks this has been delayed to the fact that I have contract mrsa after my breast reconstruction surgery. I have had 3 drains put in in my breast to drain away the fluids after the op, but unfortunately I am still draining but the fluid is a tan coloured and I have been informed that I have contracted mrsa. It has always been a tan colour so I have mistaken this as being seroma and everything was okay. Aparently seroma is a clear liquid, which has never been so in my case. I just wondered has anyone else out there come across mrsa and chemo together? My specialist isn’t too keen on my starting chemo, but I am very anxious to get going. It is now 11 weeks since I had my surgery, is this a long time before starting chemo?

hi rebel, i too contracted a infection after my masectomy ( psuedomonas) a hospital aquired infection it delayed my chemo…they wont touch you while you have any infection because chemo reduces your white blood cells which fight any infection so i`m afraid your gonna have to hang in there …caroleann

Caroleann how long did they postpone your chemo treatment. How long did you have the infection for
