I had a single mastectomy in December and on Monday got my results.
Scans showed 45 mm IDC plus high grade DCIS and 1 positive lymph node, but surgery results confirmed 60mm IDC and additional DCIS so total of 75mm with 6/17 positive nodes. Clear margins achieved. Surgeon said they got all the cancer!
Plan is CT scan, chemo, radiotherapy, hormone blockers, ovary suppression & bone infusions plus the usual ongoing additional mammograms etc.
I have 2 mild heart issues and epilepsy. Very much hoping treatment doesn’t cause issues or long term complications with those as currently they’re managed and no additional care beyond GP.
This feels A LOT! I know it’s very normal but I just wish I knew what to expect. Oncology appointment within the next 2 weeks.
I understand your concern about other medical issues. I had my first seizure in 2022 at 48, then another 15 months later and fractured my skull, diagnosed epileptic and put on tablets.
I can’t comment on chemo sorry, but I do worry if any medications or procedures will interfere with the anti-seizure meds or be a trigger. I always make a thing about asking and telling the doctors or nurses. I’ve even ask the pharmacist when picking up prescriptions because I simply do not want to have another seizure.
Thankfully there’s been no issues, and I hope you manage to get through this without any extra difficulties.
Hi, I have had epilepsy for 20 years and take Keppra. Been on chemo since late November and so far have had no problems. Biggest one is chemo brain and remembering to take the various meds. I’ve no doubt that you’ve shared this with the team, and if there is anything they need to consider, I am sure they will incorporate it into your treatment plan. Meanwhile, I hope this reassures you.
