Hi Sue,
Have really enjoyed the thread. Lots of tips written down for future use.
Thanks Sonya xx
Whoop, whoop!
- thanks Charys - that is one for this weekend for me!
So glad to hear that you have been ‘spared’, so to speak…and soup recipes are so great - easy nourishment and can be made in advance.
This is one of my favourite dishes to make at any time - and as it is so very quick to do - thought I share the link with you - sorry - too lazy to write it all…:smileywink: Anything which is quick and easy at the moment, lol
Sweet and sour sauce with pineapple
To make it into a meal - add pre cooked chicken bits or prawns or whatever else takes your fancy.
Serve with rice or noodles.

Thanks sounds delicious xxx
Salmon Pasta
This is a really quick recipe -
you need
200g pasta shapes
150g kiln roasted salmon, salmon bits or even smoked salmon
2 tablespoons creme fraiche
cook pasta to directions on packed
drain
roughly break up salmon pieces in bowl - add pasta and creme fraiche and mix
You might wish to very quickly reheat - but not cook, as the other ingredients are cold and will cool the whole dish down.

Hi ladies,
just found this article - and thought it most interesting.
I was trying to figure out, that one of the steroids, why getting a good nights rest is so challenging.
I personaly think it may have to do with what is written in this article, although I am by no means at all an expert. Considering that our diagnosisand the period following is traumatic and that our body completely instinctively fights against the things it does not like…

Hope I am not being to contaversial here, lol.
No flowing hippy hair here :smileyvery-happy:

I love all the recipe ideas Thanks for posting …
Hi ladies,
Tina had a question on the May 9th monthly thread - hence I thought it may be a good idea to post it here, too.
What about caring for our nails…
QUOTE -
- If you’d like to wear nail polish, consider using a water-based polish. Conventional nail polishes may contain chemicals to harden and stabilize them that are considered toxic. If your nails are very dry or falling off, you might want to consider a nail moisturizer instead of polish.
- Dry nails can become weaker or more brittle during chemotherapy treatment. To take off polish, use a remover that doesn’t contain acetone, ethylacetate, or other harsh solvents. There are gentle removers specifically for water-based nail polish.
- Don’t use acrylics or other nail wraps. Fake nails can trap bacteria that may cause infection.
- If you have a professional manicure, bring your own instruments, regardless of how the salon cleans theirs. Remember, your nails can look great with no polish at all. Ask the salon technician to buff them (bring your own buffer) to a beautiful shine.
- Ask a professional manicurist for more information on daily home care to keep your nails healthy and strong.
- Alert your doctor to any signs of inflammation or infection - END QUOTE
The minimum we should look for is a 3 free nail varnish (It’s made without the 3 common chemicals found in nail polishes: Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Formaldehyde)
- so you could Google that. For quick reference here are some:
Clinique A Different Nail Enamel
Nailberry
Butter

Opi

Hi again,
I found this - rather unusual way of helping cope with hairloss - not sure whether I would consider it, but on the other hand…

God got steak in fridge for tea 2moro night !! I like mine pink wonder if that’s ok xxx
Thanks I’ll enjoy my steak tomorrow now 2nd chemo on Monday !! Just Watched orig that was in last night it’s called big C & me it was very hard to watch & don’t think I can watch anymore of them very upsetting albeit true very brave people xxx
I know yr right I felt it was easier for me to watch than my family if that makes sense I think it was just too close to the bone for them xxx
I have taped it so I’m going to watch it xxx
Just finished watching it. It puts to bed this infatuation that we all have with health and fitness.
I also watched the big c and me last night. It was quite strange to watch. I suppose as I’m just starting out, its hard to put myself in that position even though I will be very soon. I’m at Christies on the 8th for my pre chemo assessment. I felt so sorry for that lady who died. My mother in law said that her body must have been so weak after the week of chemo that she had to have before the stem cell transplant.
It was also good to see the different sides of cancer as well. My hubby wouldn’t watch it with me which upset me but he feels that he knows what to expect as it’s been explained to him by the nurses. I guess it was too much for him to watch. Too close for comfort xx
Hi sonya yeah my dad refused to watch it my mum switched it off half way thru & my partner says he’s not watching anymore … So all in all not a great success. I was very sad in party’s & yes that poor woman. I think our nearest & dearest find it too close to the bone & r happy to deal with their situation & don’t want to see the bigger picture or what can happen. Have u watched Victoria Derbyshire on utube it’s interesting it’s her video diary of chemo, radiotherapy etc it’s worth a watch. 2nd chemo Monday & have woke up to body hair gone & going. Doing cold cap so had a little shed y’day see if there’s anymore today just hope it doesn’t follow my body hair !!! Lots of love Lynn xxxx
