chemotherapy with Taxotere

Hello, I am Zoltan. My mother started two days ago the 5th chemothrapy session with taxotere.Since yesterday she has powerful muscle and bone pain, she can hardly move and almost impossible to support the pain.Has anyone else experienced this.Any advice to relive the pain?

Hi I’m afraid it’s what it does all I can suggest it basic pain killers reg if it’s not getting any better give gp a call he can give u stronger ones I had tax yr ago it causes bone pain if you go on the chemotherapy thread there are loads tips on there also a warm bath or hot water bottle help sometimes tc Laura

I had this on taxotere and my GP prescribed cocodamol and voltarol taken together and it worked. She suggested paracetamol and ibuprofen taken together as top up so might be worth a try.

I had such terrible pains during my first Tax that I wanted to stop all treatments. I was then prescribed Arthrotec taken together with Paracetamol and it really worked! Do ask your GP or Oncologist to prescribe your Mum some strong painkillers.
Take care

I had this exact problem myself, so bad I could hardly walk and was at some points crawling around, it was incredibly painful, with electric shock type pains, severe aching, totally crunched up.
My BCN said it could be a reaction to the injections, so on my last chemo I didn’t use the injections and it was a lot better.
Tax still causes bone pains/aches without the injections but I could actually MOVE this time, had to take morphine though for the pains so I could sleep etc (until it wore off)
Hot water bottles help, I had one on my lower back and one between my thighs/knee level and that helped a lot. As did hot showers, couldn’t get in and out of bath because legs not working properly and no handles on bath to aid me. Others say bath helps a lot too.
Your poor Mum, its not nice at all. xx
