Chronic Abdominal Pain

Hello there,

I’ve started taking Tamoxifen from January, and aside from the main symptoms, I’ve also started to get Chronic Abdominal Cramping. I noticed my Pharmacy gave me a different brand recently. This is Day 4, and it’s not getting any better. Buscapan, green tea, and trying to eat well is not helping. The constant pain can sometimes put me off eating and make me feel quite low.

Is this a normal side effect with Tamoxifen?

Many thanks for any information you can give me.

Hi lauralondon88,

Thanks for posting.

It sounds as if you have been in a lot of discomfort recently.

Abdominal cramping isn’t a typical side effect of tamoxifen and it’s difficult to know whether it might be related to a different brand.

Abdominal pain and cramping can have many causes. As the cramping hasn’t been relieved by the things you have tried, it would be best to make an appointment with your GP for a fuller assessment.
