hi
I was reading an old issue of New Scientist yesterday and there was an article about research into circadian rhythms affecting the effectiveness and the incidence of side affects in chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
I’ve found it online, but unfortunately you have to subscribe to read it all: newscientist.com/article/mg19926713.200-circadian-rhythms-boost-cancer-therapies.html
I think the upshot of it was that chemotherapy tends to be more effective with fewer side effects if delivered at night, and radiotherapy tends to be more effective with fewer side effects if given in the morning rather than the afternoon.
I wondered whether anyone has heard anything like this, taken part in these studies, or had anecdotal evidence either way?
It’s not gonna do me much good, cuz I’m starting rads next week, with a mid-afternoon time-slot, but I’m always curious to know what’s the what… ![]()
cheers
