Hi there, I finished my chemo treatment in mid February, followed by 4 weeks of radiotherapy, my hair is starting to grow back, it’s very short and completely grey / white! I am still wearing wigs but am keen to go without them when the weather gets warmer and as I am only 42 don’t want grey hair, so has anyone got any tips or suggestions about which hair colours to use that cover grey but don’t damage the new hair too much? Thanks
Hiya Janet.
Congratulations on getting some hair back but its so worrying risking loosing it again.
I had fec chemo in 2004 and i was 50 but didn’t want to look 70 with the grey either.
I bought those little sachets “hint of a tint” from boots which did give a little colour for a few weeks. I then got a highlighting kit and carefully painted some strands But avoided the scalp.
I made a big mistake and used Johnson’s baby shampoo but was later told it was the wrong thing to use …I was told simple shampoo was the better.
I’m not a hairdresser or anything and some other ladies might have better ideas but I thought as I was lurking …would reply.
Hugs xx
Do people ever get their natural hair colour back, does anyone know?
Hi there,
I must admit I see to have been very lucky in the chemo hair lottery as my hair has grown back thick and black (my colour when I was a child) despite being fine, mousey brown and somewhat greying before it fell out. The only problem is it is incredibly dry and poor condition so I am rubbing lots of Argon oil into to it in the hope it might improve. Just hoping the grey doesn’t come back at least for a while!
