Complete pathological response HER +ve after 4 rounds

Hi, I was diagnosed with HER +ve in my right breast (17mm). Grade 3, invasive, Grade 1 in my left breast HER -ve (15mm), My treatment started in October. it was 6 rounds of Docetaxel and Carboplatin, phesgo every 3 weeks and zoledronic acid (every 6 months) …it was brutal. The chemo was very harsh and not to go through all the side effects but I have never managed the 3 weeks, due to low neutrophils, only every 4 weeks. I had a CT scan and ultrasound this week and the good news is I was told I’ve had a complete pathological response and there are no signs of either tumours! Horay! No residedue…nothing… I was astonished. I am supposed to have 6 rounds of chemo. Does anyone know whether it is possible I won’t need the last two doses if I already have a CPR? I am having a double mastectomy due to having the PALB2 mutation, so not risking a lumpectomy. I know I will continue with part of the Phesgo (can’t remember which half!). Has anyone had a similar situation?

I can’t comment on the technicality of your questions regarding chemo and hopefully one of the nurses will be able to answer your questions on Monday from 9am.

I wanted to let you know there is a very popular thread of HER2 buddies that you may want to join. There might also be someone on there that has had a complete CPR and can say if their chemo continued or not.

Thank you naughty boob  I’ll see if I can find any threads on it xx

You can click on the link in my post HER2+ and need some buddies.

Hi lotlot

Thanks for posting.

It’s good to read that you have had such a good response to the chemotherapy you have had thus far. Not being able to detect any signs of cancer on a CT scan and ultrasound is very positive.

Whether or not you will need to have further chemotherapy may depend on a number of things including the severity of the side effects you have experienced. Your breast care nurse can provide you with more information about this.
