Thanks for your replies, it seems there may be a light at the end of the tunnel ‘C’, hope you get the news you want and only have to wear it for work, etc. Sandra, I wonder what made it flair up again - wonder whether the change in temperature has an effect?
I’m hoping to be gettin another set soon as having to wash these ones early evening in order to get them dry for the next day. Think I’m getting a bit used to it now, just soo glad it’s winter!
I agree good to hear some positive stories. After my incident with the sleeve I have been terrified of wearing any sleeve thinking I’m more likely to get problems from it rather than it helping.
I think I will order the DVD you mention M1yu. My first appointment with the nurse was good but time limited so I have to wait to be shown MLD.
I’m still not sure about the sleeve with the elasticated top because of the indentations. I’m still not at all sure how much indentation is okay.
Back from the follow up appt today. Been told can start self massage (SLD) now if I feel OK, so not too much excuses now for being lazy! My sleeve is a bit funny. Don’t feel tight at all, but I’ve got red markings at the top end every night I took it off. But then because I move my arm a lot (exercise), it slips down and I have to keep on pulling it up throughout the day. Is that too tight or too loose??? The nurses weren’t sure, but agreed to send another type to let me try and see which one works better for me.
elinda, the DVD doesn’t have MLD in it, only SLD and exercises. But it’s still a good watch. Just in case you’re expecting to see MLD.
Was also warned that whether SLD or MLD, don’t do it if cancer is still active, undergoing treatment, or feeling a bit run down (inc cold, flu, sore throat, an infection or anything like this) because it might make you feel worse.
Anyway, that’s all I know for now. Hope you’re all OK xx
Thanks for the information. I hadn’t realised it was called SLD if you did this yourself and that’s exactly what I want to see.
Does anyone get strange sensations after wearing their sleeve? I feel it makes one of my veins feel sore at the top of my arm and makes it stand out more? Anyone else had that?
I suppose I’m worrying that if the chemo has shot my veins in that arm will the compression sleeve make that worse…
