Concerned about red warm patch on my right breast

Hi there,

I started getting lumps underneath both my armpits last July.  The lumps were sore and red.  I went to the hospital to have them examined and was given antibiotics.  The lumps disappeared, but came back so I changed my deodorant to a natural one from Lush.  For four months I had no lumps appearing in either armpit, bar when I used a normal deodorant and a couple appeared, but they disappeared again when I used the natural deodorant from Lush.

Anyway, this week I have had another couple of lumps in my armpits.  One has gone, but last night I had a shower and then noticed a red warm patch on my left breast with what looks like a red squiggly line with it.  In the last few hours, another painful lump in the left armpit has appeared.

I’ve booked an appointment with the nurse on Thursday morning at 9am, and there is a doctor there too if needed.  I’m just a bit concerned as the symptoms I have are similar to what is described for inflammatory breast cancer, so I’m trying not to panic too much.

I’d love to know if anyone else has experienced these types of symptom and can advise what happened.

Any information appreciated.

Thank you

Trudi

Hi Trudy,
Obviously you’re getting it checked out, so that’s great.
Of all the things it can be IBC is the least likely, there are many more common reasons for your symptoms, IBC is rare. If you have been, its best not to generally google symptoms, as it only causes unnecessary anxiety.

Hi Anna

I managed to speak to a lovely nurse yesterday who recommended I get it checked out at a breast clinic. I’ve subsequently been to my GP whose examined it and made that referral. I’m in the system and waiting for an appointment.

Whilst I hear what you’re saying about Google. I had watched a lot of videos about symptoms and the conversation yesterday helped keep things in perspective. Plus, one of my best friends has had breast cancer so she was on my case too to get a referral.

Thanks again.
Trudi

Hi Anna

I had a mammogram and an ultrasound and they didn’t find anything. Thanks again for the call and the advice, it was really useful and comforting.

Cheers
