Concerned

Hi all…I’m 44, I am not breastfeeding, yet my consultant is treating me for Matitis. My left breast has been in tremendous pain, with swelling, itching and redness…and dried pus coming out of a flattened nipple. I know you shouldn’t Google symptoms…but, I did and my symptoms are the same as inflammatory Breast Cancer. I am on my 2nd lot of antibiotics and don’t have my mammogram and ultrasound until Tuesday…my consultant say I have caused my infection from smoking, which I don’t smoke very often, but haven’t since I saw him on Wednesday. I don’t have all the same symptoms now…I now have a lump (I think) and a very tender flattened nipple and the skin is still hard around it…should I be worried or has someone this and its been mastitis??

Hiya Vic

I’m just replying to say welcome to this place that no one wants to be…

Waiting is an awful time, on the whole people feel a bit calmer when they have a plan, and of course lots of women are not diagnosed with something dread.

Try to do things that take your mind away from churning, even if it only works for a bit. And don’t beat yourself up …these things come along to all sorts of women, the slender and  the curvy, veggies and meat eaters, smokers and marathon runners.

Do what you can to eat well, sleep and keep other stressors down.

And hope things go ok on Tuesday, have someone with you, if you can.

This forum is ace, I’ve found info and a lot of comfort and friendship.

So, slow deep breaths ( me, that is, you can join in too!) and enjoy the sun.
