I registered on this site about 3 months ago with concerns for myself and everything turned out fine.
My sister recently was referred to the breast clinic due to pain in both breasts. She had her appointment last week and they drew fluid of both her breasts as they stated that she had cysts. The fluid wasn’t clear and was sent away for analysis.
She had her follow up appointment this afternoon and was told that some abnormal cells were found and they now want to do a biopsy. They couldn’t do it today as it was too late in the day and she will be sent an appoinment after which they will take two weeks for her to get the results.
Apparently this is just a precaution to be sure that everything is fine. My sister is very distressed I wasn’t at the appointment with her and I don’t think she has taken everything the doctor was saying in. My mum who was with her said that they didn’t seem overly concerned. Has this happened to anyone else and what was the outcome of the biopsy. I want to put her mind at rest and say it was just a precaution but I really haven’t got a clue. Any advance greatfully received. Thank you

Sister got letter to see doctor re results in two weeks last Friday. She chased up her biopsy appointment yesterday to be told she is not in the list and they would call her back. A whole day waiting by the phone and finally an appointment on Thursday this week at 1pm. How could this happen!!! She is so stressed, they marked it as urgent yet they miss placed the paperwork. Why are these appointments always so late in the day so that they are unable to offer the relevant treatment. I thought they were supposed to be one stop breast clinics. Anyway rant over.
Can anyone offer advice on the following, she is in a lot of pain and discomfort unable to wear a bra as her breast is so tender. She has been told to take paracetamol but that doesn’t take the edge off. Can the cysts be infected or are they always painful?. Going forward if everything turns out to be ok what treatment is available for the pain and discomfort. Thank you.
