Hi Long Lashes,
Might be a bit selfish of me, but it’s good that someone else is still awake. I took my steroids late today so I’m climbing the walls, I’ll be on the rood in a minute.
To answer your questions, I’ll start with easiest ones first:
OH= Other Half.
I’m no medical expert but I would think if you have an appointment to get results, you should be told the grade and if there is any node involvement. There is a good booklet in the Publications part of this site. I think it’s called ‘Understanding your pathology report’. It might help you prepare any questions for your appointment. I’m having my 5th chemo tomorrow and still haven’t had the stage confirmed except ‘The high 3’s’. If it’s something you definitely want to know, write this down as a question to take with you at your appointment.
Are you expecting to have chemo? I was told at my intial Dx (diagnosis) after biopsies that chemo was on the cards for me, so I knew this was past of my plan but didn’t find ot what regime I would have until I met my oncologist and that was after I got patholgy results following surgery.
You’re right, there are many different chemo’s and the type will depend on your pathology results. There does seem to be some common chemo’s with FEC and FEC-T regimes popular ones. The F,E,C and T are initials of the indivdual chemo drugs. I’m having 6 cycles of chemo, every 3 weeks, so this is 18 weeks. I started chemo on 23rd Feb and am due to have my final one on 14th June. The time has really flown by! I know a lady that is having 8 lots of chemo 3 weeks apart and I think this is down to the individula oncologist and what they think is best for you. I also know a lady who is having weekly treatments.
I can’t help with the radiotherapy, I too will have this but as yet do not know how long for or when. Hopefully someone will be along to help you with.
The best of wishes and good luck for your aappoinment. It’s a horrible time waiting for results but I’m sure things will become a lot clearer for you once you’ve had your appointment and you have a better idea of your treatment plan, which will be individual to you. Start that list of questions for your medical team.
Sending you hugs and lots of positive vibes!
