Hi all, was wondering, I had a chat with my aunti today and she seemsvto think there is what’s called thirds. She thinks because mum had cancer in her lymph nodes 9 out of 17 as well as breast and now has been told there is cancer in the hip. I’m confused, is she right and s this worse news. X
Hi
I think what your Auntie means is ‘secondaries’. Secondary cancer is when breast cancer cells metastasise and grow in a different area of the body like the hip. This would be a ‘secondary breast cancer in the bone’ or bone mets. Anyway else the cancer grew would still be secondaries regardless of how many areas are affected.
It is worse news than if the cancer had been contained in the breast, but it can be treated. There are many of us here who have bone mets, many who have been treated with them for many years.
When all the results are confirmed and if it does turn out to be bone mets, you should find lots of support and answers to your questions on this forum…look out for the ‘bone mets’ threads.
I hope I have answered your question
