Coping with driving for Rads daily???

Hi

Ooohh this thread is so close to my heart. My chemo finished in January. MX/recon & lymph removal in Feb and Radio started at the end of March so it has been full on.

I’m currently 1/2 way through my 25 sessions of rads. Every bliming day across 6 weeks. I am still working part time, I have a 3 year old who likes to watch cbeebies at from 6.30 am, a 45 minute drive to hospital and I’m obsessed with punctuality…am I sounding stressed LOL!

I am driving myself to and from hospital and the receptionist could not be more accommodating. They understand that sometimes you hit traffic, that parking can be awful or some days your wig just doesn’t go on right straight away. The driving is boring but at the same time I am enjoying listening to my music and not a disney CD! I am a little tired now but I am finding it easier to manage than chemo. Good luck x

Good for you, TwinkleTwinkle (love your name!) You certainly sound as if you’ve been kept out of mischief!!!

Six weeks, 45 mins each way, and I wondered if I might have a problem. Hey, like they say, always someone worse off and so I should stop wondering!!! I have a good road, probably about 35 mins each way. I do consider myself to have had it ‘easy’ as I haven’t needed chemo and all that implies.

I don’t have to suffer cbeebies at any time of day or night!!! That’s good!!! Umm, have no children, single so can please myself.

Yes, I’ve discovered they are so patient and accommodating re getting stuck in traffic and being late but I was able to phone ahead to tell them! And that was for the first visit for the Planning!!! Bodes well, eh? Had ‘trial run’ today (because I’m participating in the IMPORT High trial), starting Rads Monday, for 15 sessions so hope I cope as well as all you girls are!!!

Thank you, all of you, for being so supportive, reassuring and encouraging.

Onwards and upwards, eh!!!
