Hello all. I’m having a second biopsy on Friday after an inconclusive one with too much bleeding for more a month ago. Since then I have found another very small lump in other breast. Would it be ok to ask radiographer to look at the other breast with ultrasound while he is doing the core biopsy? Not sure of the protocol in this. Many thanks
I don’t know the protocol either, but was always told if you don’t ask you don’t get.
I would definitely ask as you are there
Good luck

Thanks chillout365!
Yes you should definitely ask xx
Just thinking … maybe phone your BCN if you have one or your GP as well get could probably get this sorted for you. If you are seeing a Radiologist because they are Doctors they can investigate what they find but a Radiographer may only be allowed to investigate what you have been referred for because it’s likely to involve X Rays / mammograms - I suspect they won’t be allowed to subject a patient to extra radiation or tests without orders from a Doctor . That’s not to say they won’t be able to sort that with a Radiologist on the day but it would save time if it can be sorted in advance .
If your appointment information has phone numbers attached you could ring and explain the situation - it would be better for you and an efficient use of time . Xx
Definitely ask during ultrasound as they are harmless, you can have as many as you like of those in theory. If you get a good sonographer - the first one I saw was brilliant and very friendly- I’m sure they would be interested to take a look. Radiographers, could be tied as there is some exposure implications. When you initially went, you would of had both breasts mammogrammed, so you could ask them to review the one on record for the other breast, paying particular attention to the area where your have since felt a lump. Its not as easy sometimes to spot things on a mammogram, like a needle in a haystack, but if a person can hone in on where to look, they might have more chance or be able to confirm otherwise.
Thanks entropy and Joanne, both very helpful and I’ll ring them today x
Hi gardener3
Hope you managed to speak with someone today.
Good luck for tomorrow.
Xx
Thanks! I did ring them and the nurse said she would put a note on my file so hopefully it will be ok. Thanks for the support
Thank you all for your advice and support. I went in this morning but unfortunately they could not look at the second lump as I had a vacuum assisted biopsy with mammogram instead of ultrasound. So I will have to go back for them to have a look. Never mind, just waiting for results now… ho hum!
I’m sorry - don’t stop reminding them that it’s there though and best of luck for your VAB results. Xx
Thanks xx
