hi everybody I am quite new to this site
I had a core biopsy last monday 5th july and the breast care clinic told me i would get my results between one week and two weeks I am so stressed it is now 10 days is the longer you wait good or doesnt it matter. I am really getting stressed waiting for the postman everyday. Has everyone else waited this long.
Hi,
I am not sure why they would make you wait for news through the post, not sure if it is something that is done differently in areas? When I had my biopsy, they booked an appointment for me to come back in a week later for the results and to see the specialist.
I would ring the unit where you had your biopsy and maybe just chase this up, it’s horrible having to wait so long!

My wait was also a week.I would ring them today.
Hi,
Do agree with jbug, really unlikely that they would send these sorts of results through the post. I had to phone unit 1 week later to see if results were back and then attend unit once availability confirmed.
So please phone unit and stop this waiting, as we all know the waiting is the worst bit!
Hope all goes well for you whatever the results.

thanx for you replies, the consultant that saw me said she would write to me?? i am confused now
Dear fedup, welcome to the BCC forums
I think it is entirely reasonable for you to contact your breast unit as other users have suggested to find out what should happen next and when you can expect to receive some news.
Please do call our helpline for further support if you feel it would help on 0808 800 6000, weekdays 9-5 and Sat 9-2.
Best wishes
Lucy
Hi Fedup
I would ring to see when you can go in to discuss your results, I hate waiting and think it’s the worse thing.
My results were back by the Tuesday after the Friday biopsy, very aggressive so changing fast, my friend’s weren’t back til a week later, less aggresive and slower result. I have my fingers crossed for you.

fedup - I had to wait two weeks for the first core biopsy but the appointment was booked on the day it was taken. I was given a leaflet explaining why it took that long. Having said that, they rushed the second one through in a matter of days, as I was already booked in for surgery. As everyone else has suggested, it seems strange for them to write to you with such information and so I would definitely ring to find out what is going on. The waiting is truly dreadful, we all agree on that. I do so wish you good luck with your results.

Hi Fedup
Mine were a week too; got the appt same day as the core biopsy too so I would def chase this up. All too many of us know how horrible it is waiting for results. I wish you good results.

Thankyou for all your replies I know I am going to have to find the courage to phone but I cant… But I will try I will keep you informed

One thought - could the write to you bit actually mean “when we have the results we will send you an appointment”?
Just a thought, as I do not think this sort of thing is really appropriate in a letter, as either way you may well have lots of questions.
Paul.
hi again
i eventually got the nerve and rang the clinic and they rang me back 20 mins later and told me the great news i am all clear and a letter was sent out yesterday telling me my results i cried with pure relief. i would just like to take this opportunity in thanking you all for your wonderful support knowing you all have your own troubles. i wish you all well and speedy recoveries and after reading so many of your posts i keep you all in my prayers.

That’s brilliant news! It does still seem strange that they were going to write to you either way, unless they were pretty certain all was ok. I haven’t heard that before. It is definitely the sort of news you need to receive face to face, if it was not good.
Anyway, all is well. Go and celebrate!!!
