coughing
coughing I know I’ve already done a post of worrying about my mums health every time she gets a cold etc, but I just need to put this, she has had a cough for a while, I’m not sure how long and she also went to the doctors a while ago, again i’m not sure how long. Do you think it’s just to do with hayfever or something?
Many reasons for coughing There are many reasons for persistent cughing and yes one of them is lung mets. But no one can guess. Talk gently to your mother and suggest she mentions it at her next bc check up, or if it really is bad then talk to her about seeing her oncologist or surgeon soon. GPs often fob patients off and are not as rigorous about spotting possible signs of cancer spread.
I’ve had a cough occasionally since my treatment for primary bc finished but scans have so far been OK. Not to say they show problems in future though.
Another thought…‘catching’ lung mets a bit earlier is not generally thought to make any difference to overall survival time. Some people are more vigilant about signs and symptoms than others…we all have different ways of coping…so it may be that your mum herself is not too bothered by her cough and is montioring it herself for a while. Give her that space if she needs it.
best wishes to you and yur mum.
