could happens so soon?

Hello, I was wondering if it has come back on my good breast. I only discovered about cancer in September, had a lumpectomy in October, it was bigger than originally thought grade three, triple negative so instead of another lump out had a mastectomy in November, no chemo because of other health issues, now two weeks ago I have noticed a red marking with a kind of crease or small lump on the other breast, and the nipple seems to go in, or is it a king of dimple , I am not sure if it is the cancer coming back there or it is just part of the healing process of the other breast, it seems too soon since I had the mammography of both breast that was in September, can anybody help, please I am worried, what would you do in my place and has anybody happened the same? Thanks Josie

Josie - i think you had best get in contact with your bcn and get them to have a look… It is unusual to get bc so quickly in the other breast but can happen…

I started getting changes in my good breast about 3 months after active treatment finished… in the end after an ultrasound and mri it was duct ectasia which is a benign condition - in my case we still decided to go ahead with a second mastectomy due to family history (i had wanted both done in the first place…)

Theresa

Good advise from Theresa-do give your nurse a ring, and see what she suggests. You’ll be feeling very vulnerable, so soon after treatment, and with all the added issues which complicate your prognosis, so I’m sure they won’t mind reassuring you or following this up. I honestly can’t see how this could be part of the healing process from the other breast? It sounds more likely to be a different issue-possibly benign-but do ask for advise from your team. It would be wrong of us to suggest that it’s not a problem-or conversely, that it is a problem! Only your medical team can establish this-good luck.

thanks for your answers i have made an appointment with my BCN tomorrow morning, i will let you know how things are going.

hello everybody, thought I let you know how I went on today when I went to see my nurse. She explained that in my case having chemotherapy wouldn’t make that much difference, only about two per cent if it worked which they couldn’t guaranteed it, it would be six months of not feeling too well and it could be dangerous in my case leaving me with some problems nearly as bad as cancer itself like the heart. She also said that normally chemotherapy is given to people who has two out of three, that is grade three, nodes involvement and vascular invasion, as I only have grade three the others are fine it wouldn’t be that important, also my age 57, as you get older chemo is less effective. So I was quite happy with their decisions of not to chemo. I will be having some counselling and my nurse will see me every two weeks at the beginning just to make sure I am ok psychologically. The doctor looked at the other breast and she said it was ok but just the same they did an ultrasound, they fetched the mammography done in September to compare and everything was ok. She said that some women develop an inverted nipple but it is nothing to do with cancer, she said the name of it, but nothing to worry about.
So, all in all I’ve come back very happy, of course I still have a 35% chance of it coming back in the next ten years, but she told me what to look for and if at any time I was worried just ring them, no to bother with my GP just ring them and they will sort it out.
To celebrate we have gone out for dinner, my partner and I and had a glass of wine with dinner to celebrate.
So any of you who has been newly diagnosed and are like I was soooooooooooo worried, frightened, etc, etc don’t be frightened to ask it is worse not knowing, and once you know where you stand get hold of the rains and start living while you are alive.

Glad your feeling a bit better about things, it’s the not knowing…
who’s your BCN at city, mines Claire, she’s great…hugsxx
