However odds given for return not good!!Ive been ok up to now but over recent weeks have go pain under arm on right side radiating around to back, very tender to touch and uncomfortable at times when in bed. Not sure if I can feel a lump or not!! I know I should go but have just had op for hernia and didnt mention it then! !Ddont want to waste anyones time it may be nothing ! Dont they say if its painful its not cancer. Any advise welcome Missdaisy 81
Hi Missdaisy81,
I think you should get the area checked out as soon as possible. Nobody will think that you are wasting their time and it will be better for you to know for sure what it is and if you are unlucky and it has come back then at least you can start any necessary treatment. Things have changed no end since you were first diagnosed. Hoping that you get it checked out soon and it turns out to be nothing relating to cancer. Good luck x
Missdaisy
Although breast cancer is USUALLY not painful it can be sometimes… Always get any changes checked out… Your not wasting anybodys time… Its better for you and for them to check it and let you know its all ok or go for treatment if it is another BC.
Its unusual for a BC to return in the other side, its generally more likely to be a new one if that is the case, but recurrence can happen in the lymph nodes further away from the original cancer eg the opposite side.
Please promise you will make an appt to get it checked… I have had a new primary cancer and then a recurrence of that, since first getting bc in 2006 so please go and get it checked… And if it is a recurrence you will get through it… Its not exactly fun but you get there xxxx
Hope all goes well for you but you have to have it checked. My primary breast cancer was painful and felt like an abcess. Thank goodness it was as the mammogram did not pick it up!
I was prescribed arimidex initially as postmenopausal Then when had a bone density test found out that I had osteoporosis. I was then changed to tamoxifen as it protects bones. The impression I get is that arimidex is better than tamoxifen and i can be switched after 2 years if my bone density improves, Unfortunately I may need to take bisphosphonates to improve density and worry about side effects. Will do what’s best in order to prevent occournce but hate taking toxic drugs, Any advice or information welcome.

Miss Daisy,
The rule of thumb seems to be that if you have a new pain which lasts for more than 2 weeks, you should get it checked out. Hopefully, it won’t be anything sinister, but there really is only 1 way to find out…
Good luck! Angelfalls xx
