Could this be signs of ibc

Hi guys looking for some advice, for the last few months I’ve been suffering from breast pain not sure how to describe it, it feels like my right breast isn’t mine like it’s been stuck on and really swollen, kind of like when u have had a baby and your milk is drying up, it feels really hot and pain is constant, I now also have pain in both armpits.
I have been seen by breast clinic and at first she told me it defo wasn’t breast cancer as you don’t get pain, she said I had a condition called teetze syndrome ( but anything I have looked up doesn’t sound like my symptoms and never have I seen that it causes armpit pain) anyway she sent me for a us scan just to check that showed a tumour so had to have a biopsy it came back benign, thankfully but doc advised a mammogram, at the age of 36 I have never had 1 this was done 3 weeks ago the pain in my right breast while getting this done was horrendous, this has came back showing thickening of the inner breast tissue, doc has advised another biopsy this has to be done on the 23Rd December.
I phoned the breast clinic for advice on the pain in my armpits the receptionist spoke to the doctor and phoned me back, doctor has advised we wait until results of biopsy so we know what we are dealing with before seeing me again. Am I just being silly worrying
Thanks for reading

Hi and so sorry you have had to post here. I am quite surprised that a breast clinic would tell you that you don’t get pain with breast cancer. It’s not common that you do, but you certainly can. Saying that IBC is usually very aggressive, and if you have had the symptoms for months, they would normally have been much worse by now.

Do you have any other symptoms like itching or redness or “dimpling” of the beast skin? I know its impossible not to worry but all the symptoms you list could also be symptoms of an infection. Did your GP try you on antibiotics at all?

Hopefully you will get your results quickly and it will be good news - particularly rubbish that you will probably have to wait over Christmas.

Now, I’m not a doctor and I clearly dont know what you have or haven’t got but please do not accept it when anyone tells you there is no pain with breast cancer. When my mum was around 43 years old in about 1977 when she started to get bad breast pain and over the course of 2 years ( yes- 2 years! ) she was ignored by her GP and told everytime she went to the surgery that “there is no pain with breast cancer.” Finally after 2 years and just to shut her up and stop her returning, the GP sent her for a mammogram where advanced invasive breast cancer was found and she had an immediate mastectomy and all her lymph nodes and muscle removed.

So, follow your gut feeling. The likelihood is that it’s not cancer but you need to have all the relevant tests to rule it out and be told what it actually is. Get a 2nd opinion if you feel it’s necessary. Good luck. X

Hi thanks for your reply, my right breast is itchy as well as burning I have a pin dot just under my nipple, My right breast also looks a bit bigger and nipple really sticking out compared to other, but it’s more the painful armpits that’s getting to me the pain is so bad and no pain relief his helping.

Had biopsy was so painful, she said she could see thickening on scan so took around 5 samples she also scanned my armpit and said she didn’t see anything strange there. Been told to go home and enjoy Christmas results should be back around 7 Jan it seems such a long wait. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas

Well, that’s progress. At least they are doing everything necessary so far. I’m still waiting for my biopsy results from 3rd Dec!!

That’s terrible poppyfields, hopefully u get your results soon, the waiting is so hard I try and not think about it, but it just seems to jump into my mind At crazy times like 4am lol. Fingers crossed we get good news soon

Biopsy was done on 23rd December so quite lucky to be getting results with a few Weeks I really feel for you poppyfields

Hi. I’m in spain and the process is different here. I did go to the hospital before Xmas to try and get my results but I didn’t get anywhere. I’ve got an appointment on 4th and I have a feeling from the little I was told that I’m going to have another procedure or something done. I’ve just been telling myself that it’s all going to be OK and I try not to think about it. On Sunday I will prepare myself mentally for maybe another biopsy and hopefully the results from 3rd Dec good or bad. X

Thanks kess just need to keep thinking positive, hope you are doing good. Poppyfields hopefully u get some answers on the 4th thinking of you

Well, all good my end! On reflection information was kept to a minimum. I was basically told that the biopsy results were good but the clusters of micro calcifications particularly need further monitoring before returning to the screening program. So I will be called back later this year to repeat all the tests. She didn’t want to give me a copy of the results but said my GP has access to the information. So I may ask for a print out of it when I next go to the GP. She’s not considering removing the fibroadenoma at this stage. I wish you all well with your treatment in the forthcoming months. I’ll read your updates now and then and see how you are getting on… Best wishes. Xx

That’s great news poppyfields glad all is well and they are keeping an eye on things

Hi good news got letter to say thinking is benign tissue so all looking gd my end, keep well everyone xx

Wow, what a week for us on this thread!!! I really hope it gives positive vibes to others now waiting for appointments or initial test results. I’ll be back later in the year with an update on how my RE tests went. Take care everyone. Xx
