creams

hi
i was wondering if anyone could give me a little advice- should you be given a cream to use before redness or is it just given when needed. thanks

hi jojo100
I was given Aqueos cream by radiotherapy dept., when i went for each session…ask when you go
…if they don’t supply you with any you can buy it over the counter at chemists. I was told to apply it even before I started radiotherapy to prepare skin used it all the way throgh radiotherapy I never had any problems or burns.

Hi Jojo,

I’m the same as Karen and used the aqueous cream for two weeks before rads started as per the advice from ladies in here. I am 12 sessions down with 7 left to go and have used the cream every day after rads and before bed even when I’m not pink. I’ve no burns, redness or blisters so far. The skin has changed colour but to be honest it kind of looks like I’m getting a bit of a tan. Its definately not sore though…yet…fingers crossed.
Good luck. Love Shonagh xx

Hi Jojo

I was told either aqueous or E45 and to use ‘Simple’ shower gel or bath gel as it’s unperfumed.

I’ve just finished my radiotherapy today (3 separate one over the last 13 years) although this is to my spine and neck and haven’t encountered any problems (so far!) but I do wonder as well whether it makes a different what type of skin you’ve got.

Good luck.

P.S. also remember to ‘pat’ your skin dry not rub it after you’ve had a shower or bath (you probably know this anyway so sorry if I’m telling you to suck eggs!).

Was also allowed to use PIT ROK deodorant during radiotherapy…and have continued using it.
