Cryoablation

I have been diagnosed with fibroadenoma that is 4-5 cm and growing. My doctor wants to remove it surgically, which will seriously deform my breast. I have come across a treatment option called cryoblation, which freezes the tissue instead of surgically removing it. I’m living in Norway where noone has heard of this treatment, so i’m looking for treatment in Europe - so far no luck… Does anyone know where can I find a doctor who can advise me on cryoablation?

Hi norgegirl!

I’d never heard of this, but just looked it up on Google and there is a lot of information about it. It has been approved for treatment of fibroadenoma in America and there are trials of it on very small early breast cancers. Sorry I don’t know of anyone in Europe doing it, but there is a private clinic in London which says it has all the very latest cancer treatments including ones from America. You could try googling cancer clinic London. Best of luck.

Thank you - You don’t have the name of the cancer clinic you are referring to by any chance?
I tried gooling it but it came up with a lot of clinics, so i’m not sure which one you are referring to…
Thanks again!

Hi!

I think it’s called The London Oncology Centre - its about the 2nd one that comes up.

I am a little disturbed by the freezing bit as at least with surgical removal there will be a pathology report and as far as i am aware there wil be no pathology with freezing. It is best to be sure of a proper diagnosis. I know a girl who had a mole frozen with cryotherapy and it returned a few lears later and had to be surgically removed. It turned out to be a malignant melanoma and she could have had treatment 4 years earlier. I don’t mean to alarm you but please be aware before you go for the cryotherapy.Good luck
