Hi ladies, just been to see my ONC, after 1st cycle of Tax, he was happy with my progress,but he says they will only do a check-up CT scan at the end of the 6 cycles. I thought it would have been after 3 cycles.Is this normal ? what if the treatment is n’t working ? I go through 6 Tax and all the SEs for nothing ! Maybe I am just worrying for nothing but would welcome any advice.

Hi Jean, dont know if you are the same but Im having chemo first then surgery. I had a ct scan and an MRI scan before I started chemo. Since then I have only had one MRI scan which showed that the tumour has shrunk and my onc said that I will probably have one more before I finish chemo. Ive had 4 FEC so far and 2 TAX, 2 tax to go. Maybe you could ask the breast cancer nurse if you have one you could contact. Ness xxx

yes I am having chemo first then surgery,all the more reason to keep checking for shrinkage or progression , I will ask my BCN and see what she suggests thanks.

My hospital has done CT scans after 3 cycles of 6 FEC and then after 3 cyleces of TAX when I’ve had 6 cycles booked - after 3 cycles of TAX tumours were still growing so I’ve come off that and onto another drug - I agree, waiting for 6 cycles does seen a long time so you might want to ask about it.
