Well it’s that time again – my last CT scan in November showed some possible progression in my liver (has been pretty stable since my dx in 2003), so this scan will be the one that decides if I come off Xeloda (no!!!) and go onto something more liquid and challenging.
I’ll be at the Christie Hospital for my scan, in the afternoon, drinking gastro-barf and waiting around for hours (as you do), so thought I might use my Twitter account to share the experience, tell a few jokes, exchange gormless shopping tips, generally entertain & tell the world what it’s like living with BC mets in cancer-land.
I’ve just added my Twitter account to my BCC profile (click on my name under the scallop shell), and would love to hear from you.
Good luck with the scan Marilyn - let’s hope you can keep the record on Xeloda going I’m not a tweeter myself but I hope you have lots of fellow tweeters following you.

Good luck today - I don’t know how to tweet, I must ask the children - how sad is that?
My first thought when you said about moving onto something more liquid was Gin & Tonic! However, I fear you meant something less pleasant - one can dream!!!
I will be scanned middle of March to see if Xeloda is still working for me and if so they may carry on with it, we shall see.
I also have a scan on 28th Feb, so wish us both good luck for that day. Mine is a follow up from scan in December after 12 paclitaxel and after the last 6 paclitaxel. So keeping fingers crossed get another good result.
Wondering if I need an account to tweet? I will investigate.
Good Luck Marilyn, Dawn and Susie…Fingers are crossed for you. I hope you can carry on with Xeloda Marilyn…I’m still hanging in there myself…I love those peachy pills.

Thanks girls – and everything crossed for everyone’s good scan results! Belinda – yes, hooray, sign up on the twitter website, and join me (complete with sticks & stares) on the 28th!
Hi again – just a reminder that I’ll be trying to reduce my scanxiety at my CT scan on Monday by tweeting from the hospital – jokes, silly stories, toasts (in gastrografin, of course) – and hoping for some virtual hand-holding from whoever might be around in the afternoon. Thanks if you can join me!

Marif hope you OK and your scan went ok yesterday. When do you get your results. I get mine on 9th March - day after my birthday and got treatment on my birthday
My scan went OK, but no veins (!) so no contrast! Plenty of gastro-barf, though, so they’ll have something to look at. My next onc appointment is on the 18th of March – will probably wait until then to get results – I’m in no hurry . . .
HUGE good luck for your scan results!!! And Happy Birthday for next week – how lovely to have your birthday on International Women’s Day!
Great news marif! The state of your liver is of great interest to me too - as we are both 7 years + (me 8 years now!) and I don’t want either of us falling off this tightrope of success.
Blondie
Blondie, good to see you posting here, and happy that you’re doing so well! Dawn, thanks for the congrats, and hope your bones etc are treating you kindly at the moment – must be a lot to do in the nursery right about now! M xx
Well done Marilyn, yes, you are a great advert for the wonders of Capecitabine.
I was feeling a bit down on Friday when I got my scan results as it said only marginal reduction! You see I am still hoping that I will pitch up and they will tell me it has all gone!!! Delusional or what??? Now I am thinking that marginal reduction is good and there were no new tumours. So I will now look forward and think about entering the ‘stable’ arena too!
N – thanks for your support – not stable??? Hmmmmmm And want to know how you’re doing, too.
Sue – I also dream of the miracle of NED, but don’t we all? Good that you have had some shrinkage – actually think that’s a bit better than “stable”!!! Celebrate!
