Cyberknife campaign - Accuray now forming campaign group

I have been invited to a meeting in Birmingham on the 19th April, which has been organised by Accuray’s marketing people (who make Cyberknife and have just bought TomoTherapy), which will bring together all those doing things around Cyberknife (doctors, marketing people, and campaigners), and coordinate our efforts.
It is crazy that numerous NHS Hospitals have acquired stereotactic radiotherapy like Cyberknife and TomoTherapy, but very few PCT’s fund patients to use it. It is also crazy that stereotactic radiotherapy is well researched, used around the world, and even NICE are dubious about whether it requires evaluation, and yet PCT’s are sitting on their hands.
Eventually, I want to set up a campaign group, get people to write to their MP’s, and possibly mount a peaceful protest. This is revolutionary, lifesaving technology, that can delay the progression of secondary cancer, and we must have it.

Thank you for stepping up to the plate, LG. I’m lucky that I don’t need it at the moment, being only primary, but this life-saving treatment should be made available to people who would benefit from it, particularly as it’s now available in so many centres.

Please keep us posted on how we can help, it’s too important to ignore.

Well done Lemongrove for working so hard at this.
Good luck for the meeting tomorrow. I am only primary at this stage but am keen to support this campaign.I think it is vitally important to get the message across about this critically important life enhancing/saving technology and to lobby and campaign for wider use and funding.
