CYP2D6 Genetic Test

Hi All, has anyone had a CYP2D6 genetic test done?? To see if tamoxifen works well for you or not. I’m seeking this test privately but have no idea who to use and trust. Sadly its not available to everyone on the NHS.

My Oncologist canot offer me the test as its only availabile via a specfic treatment pathway, because I can’t have the test they said I can move over to Overies supression Hormone Therapy but id rather not do that if in fact Tamoxifen is doing its job properly as i can then stay on Tamoxifen for 10 years rather than something more aggressive.

Any help advice would be great.

I haven’t heard of that test, it may be helpful to ring the BCN nurses 0808 800 6000 to discuss the tests. They are available from 9-4 m-f sat 9-1.

Quick Look about the tests, cautions buying non validated tests. Would it be something you can obtain via private healthcare such as Bupa, Spire etc?

I hope you are able to find a reliable test.
