Hello
I went to the Darlington SECA (secondary breast cancer support group) for the first time this week and just wanted to post to say that I found it comforting and useful. I had previously seen the BCC post about the group but dismissed it as not really being my thing and a bit too far away from me. I also felt rather nervous about going to something like that where I didn’t know the people. But in actual fact, when I got there I found that I knew four out of the five other people already (through an earlier BCC event) and it was all very supportive and friendly. I will definitely continue going as, although I didn’t feel any need for support personally this week, I was more than happy to be there for the others and am sure that my time will come eventually. I also think it is very useful going regularly to a fortnightly group as it’s a way of touching base and monitoring one’s own health in between clinic appointments.
If anyone else is thinking about going but is unsure, I would really encourage you to give it a try. There is certainly room in the group for about 4 or 5 more people.
Best wishes.
