Hi anyone in the same boat? I had mastectomy for DCIS 21 years ago. Today i was told i had a recurrence. It cant be DCIS as i dont have any ducts so im not sure what it is! Hoping for some clarity over the neext few weeks!

So sorry, what a shock after 21 years, we really don’t know what’s round the corner that ugly little bugger pokes its head up again. I had a recurrence after 4.5 years I have to say much easier than the first time around.

The positive about your situation is that treatment has improved so much over 21 years. Lots of new drugs or techniques for surgery and radiotherapy.
I was diagnosed in May 2023 and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about cancer, recurrence or spread but I know I won’t have any control over it if it happens. I just have to have faith in the treatments.

Thanks for the replies. Im now in the waiting room for ct and bone scan etc results. I didnt think id be bothered by the waiting but its awful. BCN is ringing with them as soon as she has them aĺl. Hopefully this week.

I’m waiting on my 2nd biopsy site, so back to worrying could it be something really really bad. It’s out of my control. Though I did go to Italy the day after the biopsy was done and that and being in the company of close friends was a wonderful distraction.

I love italy definitely a good distraction! Im same as you. Waiting! Expected results last week but nothing from bcn so will chase up after Monday i think. Really need a firm plan now!
There’s a lot of waiting isn’t there. I’ve had my appointment through, Tuesday morning. Yes Chase up and see what they say. Xxx
