DCIS in both sides

I was 34GG so lots lurking in there!!

My mum had breast cancer 22 years ago - still going strong thankfully- so it’s always a worry.

Once surgery and treatment is finished you will feel much better I’m sure. xx

Thankyou xx glad you still have ya mum you are so lucky :kissing_heart:

I had DCIS in both breasts and also an added IDC in the right. All found at initial breast clinic appointment. So when I was diagnosed it was a bit of a shock to be told not only had they found cancer, but 3 areas across both breast.
They did tell me it was fairly uncommon to have bilateral at my age (44) but luckily for me all had been found early.
I had my operation coming up to 7 weeks ago, I had a right sided mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction and a left sided lumpectomy. They also did my lymph nodes on the right.
The right sided mastectomy was mandatory, as the 2 areas in my right breast were close together and I have smaller breasts so they felt a lumpectomy wouldn’t leave me with enough viable breast after. The left they felt they could clear with a lumpectomy, although I could have chosen of double mastectomy if I preferred.
The surgery wasn’t as bad as I thought, but the recovery has been harder than I expected.
But they got clear margins on the lumpectomy, there was nothing unexpected in my right and my nodes were clear, so no further treatment other than Tamoxifen for 5 years.
I do worry about it reoccurring, but my gene tests were negative so I was just unluckily.
Hope all goes well for you xxx
