Dear all… This will probably be removed too, but I just had to post as I am deeply hurt and offended by the moderator.
I have beeon accused of doing something ‘ILLEGAL’ by the moderator on this site. The thing I did was to put up a transcript of the ‘this morning’ cancer diary, which is freely avaiable in the public domainh on Googles cached archive. Again I say, which is freely avaibale for any member of the public to view.
I am deeply offended as the moderator hasn’t explained what they believed to be ‘illegal’, just put on the web site that my post was ‘illegal’. I design and develop websites and am aware of what is and isn’t allowed. The moderator did not contact me personally, just removed my post and put one there saying mine was ‘illegal’.
I had come on this board for help and support in a time which is very difficult for me, and had not expected to be slandered and offended in ths way. I thank all of you ladies on here who have wonderful in your support to date, but i can’t stand being slandered like this.

Reply form the moderator I have had a reply form the moderator who explained that the terms and conditions of the ‘this morning’ site asays it can’t be used/copied/published (etc). i havethanked the modreator for relying in the following email:

it would have been nice if you’d said why you removed my post from the site, rather than just ‘illegal’ as it made me look like a hardened criminal rather than someone conveying information - also since it was endorsed with your details, it looked as though the article was within your domain already, hence useable on your web site.
There is still a point of argument since their terms and conditions actually say “except for your own personal non-commercial home use” which is what we are all doing on this site - its not used or posted in a commercial capacity, business setting, or for any gain. I am happy to let this go however - anyone on the site can access it like I did if they want.

I know exactly how you feel. I am still trying to get BCC to apologise and to accept that they were wrong to bar me from the forums for a period of time and to then put me into unlimited moderation without any apparent reason for doing so. I have repeatedly asked to be given the reasons for these draconian actions and BCC have been unable to supply them.
I know just how much it hurts to be treated so unfairly and as if one is not even worthy of an explanation or an apology. I too felt as if my reputation had been damaged but as my many friends who read and contribute to these forums have pointed out the only image being damaged here is that of BCC.
I guess I will probably have my account closed or be put into extended moderation again for posting these comments but I do so want to let you know that you are not alone and that I know how much this kind of treatment can hurt when you have been rendered vulnerable and low by breast cancer and its treatment. My confidence has been severely damaged by my experience of breast cancer and its treatment and by the knowledge that my future is uncertain to say the least. The last thing I expected was to be treated so badly by an agency set up to support people with breast cancer.
Please try not to take it personally. It’s not your fault. If you want to email me please ask the moderators to give you my address.

I am sorry you feel so distressed by us removing your post about the information on the This Morning ITV website. As the moderator, it is important I do my best to ensure information copied from other websites onto the forums does not contain material that breaks any Terms and Conditions from where the information was originally published. In many cases there is no problem with information being copied, but having checked the ITV website terms and conditions I was obliged to remove your post. I have now emailed you, explaining why we removed your post, but it sometimes takes us a little while to get the email to you. I am sorry for the delay.
I appreciate the anger and distress everybody feels about what happened yesterday. It is important to us that any information about breast cancer is accurate and sensitive. Breast Cancer Care has been in close contact with the programme several times and has made it very clear in our correspondence why we were concerned about the information given yesterday. The contact details for Breast Cancer Care are added to articles and websites all the time, as an organisation available for further support. Unfortunately it isn’t possible for us to review all the content of each one. The majority of the time there are no problems, however whenever there are we do our best to rectify the situation as soon as possible.

— TIGERLILY AND ROISIN — I don’t want to come on and argue the rights and wrongs of anything that has been done with the points that you raised… I am a bit confused I must admit that we can’t copy something relevant from another site, but I just want to say to you both that I find your input and help valuable even though I may not always agree with everything everybody says, I feel it important that we can all air our views. PLEASE DON’T STOP POSTING… We are all in this awful business together …

i still feel i did nothing wrong as even the itv T & Cs say its OK for use in a personal non-commercail context … but I’m not going to argue the point, there are more important things, as we all know. I’m sure I’ll keep posting as the people on here are great and are such a support in the hard times, as well as the wit and humour in the easier times.

Hey people …I agree with Joy. I do not always agree with what others say here - and at times I strongly disagree. I do not however dispute their right to a point of view. If they express their point of view in an abusive manner that is another issue however.
Nothing of the kind has happened here, and I am aware that others have referred to previous times when the atmosphere on the site was not quite so pleasant but I have not experienced this.
However, - moderator sometimes, just sometimes you do seem to shoot from hip and sometimes your actions and expressions can be a little ‘provacative’ - I think this is a case in point. The issue with tigerlilly could have been handled in a much less inflammatory way, and there have been occasions when this has occured. At other times this has certainly not been the case and the moderator handles things with a gentleness of touch and in a respectful adult way. Clearly the moderators are different people at different times, I think there should be a way of identifying which moderators are operating at any given time, because on occasion they have set the tone for fruitful conversation and on occasion the opposite has occurred.
How things are handled here is crucial.

“illegal” posting Having had a posting removed for this reason, I too was incensed that no explanation was made to me at the time, When I raised the matter, a perfectly reasonable explanation was given and I took note of what not to do. Moderators, please note - it is only polite to let the offender know how they have offended. Then they can avoid offending again.

I can understand how furious you must feel and i think the moderators treated you really badly…if they believed you had infringed terms and conditions they could have said this…and also pointed us all to google and how to access a cached item…I’m really glad you explained that.
I’ve written to the moderator sand told them I think they treated you badly.
I’m getting to be a real oldie regular on these forums…and sometimes feel angry at things which happen…but overall they are an absolutely fantastic resource unmatched by any of the other forums I’ve tried. BCCdon’t allways get it right…but the fact this resource exists, nation wide, attracting such a diversity of people is somethimg we should treasure. Stay with it if you can…it is us the users who make this forum.
