hi all hope ur all well as can be…im on my 5th cycle of fec chemo next week…after number 6th chemo ive got 4 weeks radio therapy…but talkking to my breast care nurse im, tryin to get the operation where they take all breast tissue away to stop reccurence. then they put implants in. im all for this i just wanted to have other peoples views on this matter and if they have had the surgery done…if so what was the outcome???
i think if they take all tissue away the risk has got to be less much less…and my nurse said if i have this surgery i mightened have to have radio therapy thats got to be a bonus please help…thanks xxx

I’ll be in a similar position to you in a few weeks time with the same decision to make.
there is a thread in ’ mastectomies and living breast free’ called ‘elective surgery can you share experiences’ which has loads of useful posts.
for me - at the moment a lot depends on the cosmetic result i can be assured of. If it’s as good or better and the chances of complication are low, i reckon i might just do it!!
It’s not crunch time for me though so who knows …

Have you heard todays news on tv about surgeons using electrodes with Chemo a huge chance of killing those nasty gremlins even quicker.

Hello Longlashes, I had a skin and nipple saving mastectomy with an immediate reconstruction using surgimend(pig skin) and an implant 6 weeks ago. My consultant thought I had an infection 2 weeks ago so I had to go back in to have the whole thing opened up and cleaned but at the moment it is healing well.It looks fantastic, apart from a little scar in the lower areola you would not know what had happened. However, it does not feel like a real boob. I have been told it will improve. I have an implant with saline and gel in and my consultant has suggested today that if I am not happy with how it feels to the touch she will change it to just a gel one in the future.Debz x
