Delayed histology results 😑

Hi All. I had my lumpectomy and SNB on 14th April and my results are still not back from the lab. This will be 7 weeks post op tomorrow. Ive called my breast cancer nurse team a couple of times in the past fortnight but all they can tell me is that they are still awaiting results and the MDT can’t discuss or advise on the next course of treatment until the results are back. Has anyone else experienced a similar delay to their follow up appointment/treatment?

I’m going on holiday on Tuesday and had hoped I would have heard by now and so have an idea of the next course of treatment to expect to progress on my return. I was initially told that they expected my treatment to be lumpectomy followed by RT and medication. I was diagnosed with a grade 1 15mm HER2 negative tumour. I’m desperate to find out whether the margin and nodes were clear…

Yes my histology results were delayed too. Had an appointment on week 5 post surgery and when I got there they said the results weren’t in. Really flipping annoying! Eventually got them on week 7. It’s awful waiting for the next piece in the puzzle. I feel for you. Hope you don’t have to wait much longer, especially as you have a holiday coming up.

Thanks twinks77. Spoke to a nurse on Friday who said she’d email my consultant and ask her to call me if the results come back before I fly on Tuesday evening :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

I could understand if they sent it to the US for Oncotype but, because I had a Grade 1 er+ HER2- 14mm IDC, I know for a fact that they don’t send grade 1s for Oncotype so I can’t imagine what is taking so long. My treatment plan was 5 x hyper fractionated rads and Letrozole for 5 years so you may indeed get similar. Frustrating though. Happy hols.
