Just wondering if anyone out there has had a long wait from referral to surgery date? I have a non invasive DCIS so i know it is slow growing however it is a large are which means i need a mastectomy with immediate DIEP reconstruction.
I was referred on the 16th Sept and just been given an ish date of 11th Dec, i was originally told i would be in mid to end October. I cancelled a holiday in October and have just been waiting, my BCN has been off for 2 weeks as has my consultant, my breast is very sore still from the vacuum assisted biopsy which was 8 weeks ago which random BCNs have eased my mind that its nothing more sinnister. Had a message passed on to me yesterday via the phone from a different BCN that i could start Tamoxifen now but woykd have to stop 2 wks before op and it would have minimal effect! 
in such limbo and feeling really seperated from my actual support team. I am going to be 83 days from my referral and i was told i had cancer 16 days before it was referred, anyine else experiencing a similar experience? I have had scans for my blood vessels and am booked for my pre op on Friday.
Oh dear that sounds very stressful, i have my first appt after diagnosis on mon 10th Nov and i am hoping i can have surgery before xmas but who knows. Can i ask what size is your DCIS?
I have looked on my notes and it says it’s a large area which extends to the maximum dimensions of 66mm, have you had your biopsies yet?
Thanks for sharing that ariella, oh i have loads of biopsies!!! Right DCIS is 35mm and left they are saying are benign but im not 100% sure myself
