did anyone see the article in the Daily Mail yesterday about deodorants containing aluminium being a cause of breast cracker in women? I’ve never heard this before so was a bit of a shock, especially as the brands mentioned are all ones I have used for decades.
Is it true? After everything I have been through already with surgery and still only really at the beginning of this road with all the other treatment, I am terrified of it coming back so will do anything I can to reduce the chances and if deodorant is one of them I’ll happily find an alternative.
It’s the Daily Mail. They like nothing better than to spread scare stories, especially if they will scare women (it’s the most misogynist rag ever, and I’m amazed any women still read it).
Anyway, Daily Mail rants aside, hopefully this link from the Cancer Research UK site might help reassure you:
Quote: “There is no good evidence that aluminium in deodorants could increase the risk of cancer in animals or humans. This was confirmed by a review of all of the available evidence in 2014 that found no link.”
If you’re really worried, you could always switch to a deodorant that doesn’t contain aluminium.
