Deodorants

Was told by BCN best to use roll on deodorants rather than aerosols. Have always used aerosols anyway got a Dove roll on but find this very sticky and takes ages to dry. Any ideas what the down side of using aerosols are? Has anyone found anything better.

I’ve alway used a spray and will continue to do so. Might be different when my treatment moves along though.

Hiya I was told to use Pit Roc deodorant for during and after my radiotherapy for a few weeks, its pricey £6.10 in Boots but is pretty good, but remember to apply it to damp skin, as it doesn’t go over dry skin smoothly and can pull.
Otherwise I’ve always used the Dove stick deodorants they are so soft on yor skin and are instantly dry.

Just to let u know that i found Pit Rok in Morrison’s, they had 3 sorts & were all priced between £4 & £4.60. Might be worth a look in there first. x

I use PitRok too and find it very effective. It doesn’t take that long to dry either. I put it on the moment I get out of the bath or shower when my skin is still damp and it’s dry by the time I’ve dried the rest of me. Pitrok is brilliant value for money - I’ve been using mine for months and it still looks like new.

There is also a spray version of Pitrok if that’s what you prefer to use.

You cant use normal/any deodarants whilst undergoing radiotherapy because of something in it that reacts to the rays. I was told could use it on the other arm though. Pitrok is ok I believe for after rads as it hasn’t got the aluminium??( I think thats what reacts??) in it.

I just used simple wipes if got a bit sweaty You are also only to shower/ bath in simple soaps with no colours/fragrances

I used spray deods through chemo as always have done though it is just for rads there is a problem

Cancer aside I have been meaning to switch to a non aluminium deoderant for some time because i was worried about dementia.

my radiologist said not to use anything at all, that every thing dried the skin out. I have bought a pit rock and am using it anyway until i start rads. If i have not come straight out of the showere i just wet my finger and rub it over the top before applying it.

Many thanks to everyone re deodorants. Will go to Morrisons and try the pit roc

hiya ladies , i am using holland and barrat salt of the earth deodrant , you either apply it to damp skin or wet it under the tap and then apply , it works really well and comes in at a couple of quid , approved by my radiologist too xxx

oh my radiologist mention a natural one from holland and barret. she did not know if htey did it any more. The patients christened it Camels foot because of the smell–is it that one?

Think I’ll go au naturel and smell!

it cant be any worse than a camels foot

My thoughts exactly!

hi , i use Bionsen,… aluminium and paraben free. Tesco and waitrose only £2 something.

my radiologist said they sell Aloe Vera deodorant for use (non alluminnium)

oal i am just out of the shower , reading your question and sniffing my armpit lol !! no it doesn`t smell honest, completely natural non scented , so after using simple soap and natural deodrant , i guess i just smell like me xxxxxxxxx

lol! I love this site, there is always something on it that makes me smile or laugh out loud–not a bad way to start the day.

Hi everyone
Went to Morrisons for PitRoc. No luck, probably only available in larger stores. Had to pay full price in Boots. Used it today after shower, in the past always been very heavy handed with spray deos, liked the perfume. This one will take some getting used to as non
unperfumed, so am not sure when I have put enough on.
This is a fantastic site and with all you lovely ladies am getting lots of tips.

definitly not smelling like a camels foot or otherwise lol i just wanted to tell you ladies you can use the holland and barratt salt of the earth deodrant during rads , checked and confirmed , when are you starting your rads oal ?

i start on 8th august. Afterwards i get a massage to help with the cording.

oh and back to the original topic. I have recently discovered emu oil which i am going to use for rads. I read that it also works as a deodorant but i am going to wait for a day i am alone to test that one out
