depression / mammogram / ultrasound

Hi everyone
Does anyhone know if diazepam(valium) interacts with arimidex?

Amnyone know how effective in diagnosis an ultrasound is as opposed to mammogram. I am one yeazr down the line and due for either or but am extremely worried as the one I had a ayear ago, when I was recalled, was excrutiatingly painful and I could hardly bear it, so I am trying to avoid it!
Thabnk you all

Hi Kookey
I can’t answer the question re valium - try googling it or call the help line.
the question regarding which type of scan is better is debateable depending on which type of cancer you had and how old you are. Mine did not show up on Mammo, CT, or ultrasound- only found it on the MRI !!! I know the mammos are a pain I hate them but when I am back on normal monitoring I will still have them as I feel I have to have what ever checks they can offer me - not sure how I would feel if something was missed if I choose not to have a mammo???

As always you have the right to say know - but as with everything we come up against every decision has a risk. Why don’t you ask your GP if there are any painrelief tablets you can take before hand which may make it less painful??? Or you may just find the valium relaxes you so you find it less painful???

Hope this helps a bit sorry can’t give better advice
Kind Regards
Helen

I’m not sure about those two drugs, but tamoxifen and fluoxetine (prozac) aren’t that good together, as the prozac can lessen the effects of tamoxifen by a quarter. Try googling the two drug names and see what comes up!

Hi Kookey,

My heart goes out to you, I have never liked mammograms.
As part of my screening following my Mum’s diagnosis, I had 23 years of some good some bad. But when they discovered my lump the radiologist discovered an extra ratchet on the machine and I truly believed I was going to pop!!
I have used Rescue remedy and meditation in the past, but I will definitely be asking for the hard stuff when my year is up.
I have always had an ultrasound examination alongside the mammogram, as I understand it the mammogram shows up calcification which can often be DCIS.

I had a mammogram today and it was much more comfortable than the last 2. The first was when I had the lump and I thought it would burst. Last year my breast was hard from all the rads, so this was painful. It wasn’t so bad today, but they needed to take 2 extra pictures on the surgery side as my scar is is an awkward place.

I am not sure where I should be posting this. But since I completed my radiotherapy last August 07 and started on Herceptin and Arimidex in September 07 my eyes have changed rapidly. I used to be long sighted and needed reading glasses but now they have completely changed and I am getting more and more short-sighted. I have to change my prescription lenses every couple of months and have difficulty in seeing long distance. Has anyone else experienced this effect?
