DIAGNOSED 24/4/2014

Hello, I will be having my operation on the 21st May, my cancer was found on a ct scan I had for a peritoneal inclusion cyst and heavy periods on 27th Feb, did not hear anything regarding this scan, until I went to see GP on 3rd April, who was able to view the scan results from surgery. Told me that a node had been found in right breast and that she was putting forward for a 2 week referral, thank god she did, feeling very anxious and worried my other health problems may be connected, is there anyone else with similar problems?? Xx

Hi Debbers3009,

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. You will find these forums really helpful over the next weeks.

My cancer was found accidentally too as a result of going to the gp for other things. I had been experiencing an increase in a number of different things that I linked to my menstrual cycle…shorter cycle, heavier periods, more painful periods, increase in severity of migraines, increase in IBS symptoms, aches in legs and arms and painful breasts all month. I decided to go to the doctors after Christmas. She was brilliant saying that each symptom needed to be looked at. The first thing she did was a breast exam, I have always suffered with lumpy boobs that clear up once I get my period, she didn’t find anything untoward during the examination but referred me for a mammogram ‘just to rule anything out’. As I am 44 I had not had one before.  The cancer is also on my rght side. There is no way to know if any of these symptoms are in any way related to the cancer. But they did make me go to the gp and if I hadn’t gone then things could be a lot worse a few years down the track.

I am now 12 days post op. I had a WLE and am recovering well. I see the surgeon on Friday 2nd for my results and am scared of what they might tell me. I think this is normal though. The advise I have received from here and which really helps is just to take each stage at a time and not look too far ahead to the unknown, because it really messes with your head. So the old cliche, one day at a time, and deal with what you know is the best advise.

Best of luck for your upcoming surgery and take care xxx
