diagnosed breast cysts and possible fibroadenona... ??

I have had some problems with sore breasts and felt some abnormal lumps … Most importantly we have recently discovered that I could have a strong genetic strand. my grandma had it 4 times until she passed away. Now my mum, after 11 months since her last test, has had an aggressive growth removed that has already spread to her central nodes. She is about to start very toxic chemo and then will have both booths removed, then radiotherapy and possibly her womb and ovaries(?) Removed…

So my last breast scan 18 months ago, showed 2 cysts, one in each breast. I have have an extra one in my left which could explain my discomfort… They also found other lumps which they believe to be fibroadenomas. I had an ultrasound and mammogram but no fine needle aspiration. How can they tell what it is? My doctor refered me to a breast clinic brefore she shared my results but I have to wait for ages and was thinking I may get some advice on here… Thanks

I’m no medical expert but I know some surgeons / specialists know cancer when they see / feel it, the first Dr I saw said he was so sure I had cancer if my biopsy came back negative he would send me back till it came back positive.

I would go back to your Dr and ask what is supposed to be happening, especially given your history.

my original ‘provisional’ diagnosis was Fibroadenoma from my core biopsy, but the eventual histology showed as grade 1 ductal carcinoma. I felt relief after my provisional diagnosis, and felt no cause for concern, but a week later i got called back to clinic for these results.

This was thanks to the doctor doing the ultrasound, and despite a further docter whom he consulted, plus my breast consultant, who all said there was no cause for concern, decided to do the biopsy. I think he just knew there was a problem and went with his instict.

If your not satisfied i would ask to be re-referred.

I would insist on a biopsy. I was told mine was definately benign but it came back as cancer. Better to get it checked properly. It is most likely what they say it is though so really don’t worry too much. Some of us just have very bad luck x
